Notary Public Services
This is a FREE service that we provide to our community.
Please read all of the information below prior to your appointment.
Notary service is by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 2 - 3 pm or as arranged.

What Must I Bring With Me?
All signers must bring a valid government-issued photo ID and leave no blanks in the document except the signature line(s), as you will need to sign in front of the Notary.
What can/can't the library notarize?
Examples of Documents Included for Notary Services (English Language Documents Only):
* Passport Parental Consent Form
* Travel Consent Form for Minors Passport and Visa Applications
* Temporary Guardianship Agreement
* Unclaimed Property Form
* Bill of Sale
* Medical Authorization for a Minor
* Contractor Agreement
* Guardianship Authorization Form
* Consent to Background Checks
* Employment Verification
Documents NOT Included For Notary Services:
* Any documents in languages other than English
* Real Estate Documents including but not limited to: Deeds, Mortgages, Satisfaction of Mortgages, Lease Agreements, Purchasing Agreements, Titles, Liens, Releases, Real Estate Contracts, and Disclosures
* Wills, Living Wills, Codicils, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Depositions
Notary Service is not available for vital records (such as death, birth, or marriage certificates), medical or health directives, photos, and Medallion Signature Guarantee.
The Library’s notary cannot issue an Apostille.
Notaries cannot provide legal advice or counseling regarding documents.
New York notaries cannot certify copies of documents or vital records (birth certificates, death certificates, marriage licenses, etc.), notarize photos, passports, social security cards, or wills.
The Library cannot perform a notarization if the signer and the notary cannot directly communicate with one another in English.
The Library’s free notary service is intended for simple documents that do not require special expertise.
The Library makes no guarantees or warranties concerning the availability of a notary at any given time.
The person requesting the appointment must be the same person who needs document(s) notarized.
The person whose signature is being notarized must be present with a valid photo ID.
The library does not supply witnesses. Witnesses must accompany the person whose document is notarized and have proper identification. The Notary cannot act as a witness.
Notaries cannot provide legal advice or counseling regarding documents.
Notaries will not provide service if the customer, document or circumstances of the request for Notary Service raise any issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt or uncertainty for the Notary. In this event, the Notary may, at his/her sole discretion, decline to provide Notary Service. Library notary publics are required to follow all New York State and applicable local laws and regulations governing notary services.
By using the Library notary services, patrons acknowledge that the Library and the individual notary public are not liable for any damages or losses incurred as a result of the notary services provided.
The Library and the notary public are not responsible for the content or legality of the document being notarized.
